6-mile easy walk along Nashua River, canal with 1886 gatehouse, spectacular waterfall in 325-acre park, from 9:45am-2:00pm. Bring lunch and water. Route 128 Exit 32, Burlington, to Route 3N toward Nashua. Stay right on Exit 5 lane and take Exit 5A (Simon Street), then left on Simon Street, left on Whipple Street to parking lot at the end. Heavy rain cancels. No dogs. Non-AMC members, $1.
Join us for a Winter weekend at Sub Sig Cabin in Hart's location in Crawford Notch down the road from AMC Highland Center. This is a half century old hidden jewel … in fact it is called Hart's location and the cabin ( Sub Sig) is rustic yet clean and functional with an outhouse ( yeah) and hauled in water. We will plan a hike/ cross country skiing choice both Saturday and Sunday as well as group breakfasts and a supper prepared by us all on Saturday evening. Trip is recommended for families with kids ages 7+. Group size is limited to 15 lucky souls.

While the discussions are predominantly around coordinating trips and events, this is a great opportunity to get in contact with other skiers, see what we have to offer, and to find a place to help develop ski and snow related outings and events.

1:00pm. This hike will feature an impressive variety of environments while traversing a large patchwork of open and conserved lands. We will see beaver ponds, eskers, drumlins, marshes, dry uplands, hemlock groves, open fields, pretty streams, and wide vistas from hilltops. We will meet at Williams Barn (42.6265N 71.5610W), leave some cars, carpool to the start, and end up back at Williams Barn. About 2 hours, moderate pace.
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning.
Join Family Outings Sunday evening April 30th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Auburndale Library in Newton for our Family Outings Committee and Trip Planning Meeting. Light refreshments. Public meeting open to all. Great opportunity to get to know the group. 6:30 or 7 or 7:30 pm we discuss committee business and larger events coming up. This is followed by general trip planning. Bring your ideas to brainstorm. Teens welcome to join. Younger kids welcome but they will need to be able to entertain themselves quietly. Our meeting and trip planning agenda is more for adults. Join AMC Family Outings Wednesday evening May 2nd from 6:30 - 8 pm for a Multimedia Presentation "Hiking the Bay Circuit Trail: A Video Journal". Dan & Marilyn Brielmann along with Alan French will be your guides taking you along the Bay Circuit Trail, a 200 mile natural wonder that arcs the city of Boston from Newburyport to Kingston.

A weekend of spring hiking in beautiful Crawford Notch. Saturday we will hike Mt. Willard (3.2 miles) gorgeous views into Crawford Notch. Saturday night we will stay at Shapleigh Bunkhouse next to AMC Highland Center. The bunkhouse sleeps 16, is coed, heated, has bathrooms/showers and a common area. Saturday night we will make a simple pizza dinner with option to enjoy Highland Center evening program. Sunday breakfast will be at the Highland Center followed by leader's choice hike. Sunday options will depend on the groups abilities and conditions.

Join other families for a weekend in beautiful Crawford Notch, NH! AMC Boston Family Outings has rented the Shapleigh Bunkhouse (next to the Highland Center) for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Activities will be designed to fit the age range and interests of the group but will likely include a hike up Mt. Willard (3.2 miles RT) with its gorgeous views down into Crawford Notch ….a classic "big bang for your buck" hike.

Enjoy White Mountain day hike 4 - 6 miles, swimming and boating on the lake (rentals available), castles on the beach, capture the flag, campfire and s'mores! Family Memorial Day Weekend Backpack to AMC Galehead Hut (3,800 feet) & Zealand Falls Hut (2,700 feet), both still self service. Hike three 4,000 footers in spring.
Visit two AMC favorites. Galehead Hut is the most remote of the AMC High Huts with glorious views of the Pemigawasset Wilderness Area. Zealand Falls Hut is spectacularly situated on the side of Zealand Valley near Zealand Falls at the northern end of the Pemigewasset wilderness.
Are you and your family ready for the fun and adventure of staying overnight at an AMC hut ... Overnight at the family-friendly Lonesome Lake hut, one of the most accessible in the Whites? We will hike 1.6 miles (and gain 1000' vertical feet) to the hut at a kid friendly pace. The route crosses 2 bridges and features a few mild rock scrambles, and the incline is moderated by switchbacks. Along the way, we will stop for snacks, look at nature and enjoy the views.
Family-friendly bicycle tour of Cape Cod: bicycle path, farmers' market, salt water taffy, ice cream, bakeries, lighthouses, & many beaches to play at.
We meet Friday evening in Eastham hostel, set in a wooded area with common space, eating area, open play space, & small shared cabins. We spend the weekend visiting many attractions along the Cape Cod Bicycle Trail going out to Orleans farmers' market, Nickerson State Park, Coast Guard beach, Nauset lighthouse, PB Boulangerie bakery, Flax pond, & much more.

All the charm of Lake Champlain Islands in 35-80 flat miles over scenic Vermont pavé roads (read: some unpaved sections), country stores, Adirondack & Green Mountains views, & dips in refreshing lake water.
The trip has all ingredients for relaxing yet active weekend: several stops at state parks, scenic views at every turn, multiple stops for locally fresh food, & frequent beach stops for opportunities to dip in the water. Plan on three days of riding: Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.
