Join AMC Young Members, along with the Somerville Conservation Commission and the Mystic River Watershed Association to pick up trash at Draw Seven Park as part of the annual statewide COASTSWEEP cleanup. Draw Seven State Park, along the Mystic River next to Assembly Square, is Somerville's only coastal property!
Easy pace 5 mile walk, across grassy meadows and through hemlock forest, to scenic Walden Pond. The fall foliage colors, in Walden Woods are beautiful.
Walk followed by dinner/social hour at China Ruby Restaurant, in nearby Maynard, at around 2:00pm. Meet 11:00am, at Lincoln Train Station commuter parking lot. From Route 2, take Route 126 South for 2 miles. Turn left on Codman Road, follow to end. Turn left, see Train Station on left.
Come join us on this beautiful hike of Black Mountain in Benton, NH. This hike to one of the lesser known 52 with a view peaks is a scenic hike that's great for all ages, which will be perfect in the foliage season.

Join Boston's AMC young members to volunteer at Mass Audubon's Drumlin Farm and Wildlife Sanctuary! We will help work on the gardens around the Nature Center and gift shop. We will cut down the gardens for winter maintenance and remove some invasive plants that self-sowed there. Afterwards, we can also explore the farm and wildlife sanctuary.
Michele Grzenda will share highlights from two trips made to Bears Ears & Natural Bridges National Monument, Dark Canyon, and Grand Gulch. Learn about this unique area of Utah where the Anasazi Native Americans called home until 1,250 a.d. Discover the beauty and mystery this special place.

Are you interested in getting out of the ski areas and skiing the backcountry in winter!? Do you look at the forests and mountains with a desire to explore them in winder on skis but don't know where to get started? Then this talk will help answer your questions. If you want to do Nordic backcountry, or downhill ski on alpine or telemark gear we can get you pointed in the right direction.
This is a great trip for families with some experience hiking! We hike 1.6 miles, (950 ' elevation gain) to the hut at a kid-friendly pace. Late fall hiking is awesome with views unobstructed by leaves, cool temperatures, and no bugs. We carry our sleeping bags, lunches and snacks, water and mountain gear. The group carries in supplies for dinner and breakfast and prepares it together in the hut kitchen. We have free time at the hut to explore, enjoy the breathtaking views of Franconia Ridge across the pristine glacial lake, and relax.
Fast-paced seven-mile scenic walk along ocean to Castle Island, 10:00am-1:30pm. Bring lunch and water. Meet inside JFK/UMass Red Line T station, upper level gates (no nearby parking). Storm cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
Moderately paced walk. Explore Ft. Point Channel, Marine Industrial Park, Seaport District, Rowe's Wharf, Rose Kennedy Greenway. 10:00am-2:00pm. Meet at South Station (Red Line T) indoors at street level at exit to Dewey Square. Bring lunch, water. Heavy rain/forecast over 90°F cancels. No dogs. New members welcome.
Deer Island is a wonderful urban sanctuary. Awesome Boston and ocean views. Great walking, jogging, sightseeing, picnicking, fishing, and dog walking (dogs must be on a leash and owners need to clean up after their pets). There is a 2.6-mile perimeter pathway and another 2 miles of trails on the hills of the island.
8-9mi. over varied terrain w/pond & brook views, beaver lodges, waterfowl & "French meadow", 9:30am-3:00pm. Minor rock scramble & mystery cave home to a common animal. Bring lunch, boots. From Rte. 3 exit 6 in Nashua, take Rte. 130 W 5.8 mi. to light in Hollis Ctr., continue 1.8 mi. SW to dirt pkg. area on N side of Rte. 130. Heavy rain cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.

Fun Family late fall weekend! AMC Boston Family Outings rents the entire Cardigan Lodge. Great opportunity to get to know the group. Hike, walk, play and enjoy the outdoors at Cardigan Lodge and Cardigan Mountain in Alexandria, NH!! Kids all ages welcome! AMC members/non-members welcome! We offer multiple hikes, walks, and activities to accommodate a variety of ages and abilities.
Fall hike to South Mt. Kearsarge (elevation 2,920 ft) in the Rollins and Winslow State Parks. This is an easy paced 6 mile hike. Mount Kearsarge is on the 52 with a View hiking list as well as the NH Fire Tower Quest and New England Fifty Finest
Please join us on this popular loop hike over the Welch-Dickey range at the southern end of NH's White Mountains, near Waterville Valley. The Welch-Dickey loop gives excellent views of the Mt. Tripyramid and the Sandwich range. The hike is steep in spots. These mountains are known for their open ledges and rock outcroppings. In bad weather and wet conditions, be cautious on this hike: the slabs can be slippery and the ridgeline is exposed.
Join us for a19-mile loop(ish) hike through the Lye Brook Wilderness. Stunning views from the high point (fire tower atop 3,940-foot Mt. Stratton - on the NEHH and NEFF), the spark that caused the creators of both the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail to get to work. The loop we've planned takes you past Lye Brook Falls (one of VT's highest) and through the heart of this 17,841-acre wilderness in Green Mountain National Forest near Manchester, Vermont.
Join us for a hike to Mount Washington, New England's highest peak. This late fall hike up the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, Crawford Path, Gulfside Trail and Jewell Trail will cover 10-11 miles with an elevation gain of 4,200 feet at a moderate pace. The trip may include summiting Mt. Monroe. Participants should have recent comparable hikes and be comfortable with extended above tree line exposure. We could experience a mild autumn day or encounter mid-winter conditions. We won't really know until the time approaches.
Please join us on this popular loop hike over Mount Morgan and Mount Percival overlooking Squam Lake in southern New Hampshire on the southern border of the White Mountain National Forest. These two small mountains make a popular loop hike, great for kids, with good scrambles and expansive views ....... lots of "bang for your buck". The hike is roughly 5.1 miles and includes 1,550 ft. elevation gain. Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Previous hiking experience strongly recommended.

Join glaciologist/geophysicist Bruce Porter for a walk through Gray Reservation/Haynes Meadow Reservation/Water District protection zone to explore the many features formed by the glacier that blanketed New England 10,000 yrs. ago. Kettles pit the plane and kame terraces rise abruptly to create beautiful vistas of the wetlands below. Be able to identify eskers, erratics, kames, and more on your next hike. Flat with one steep 50 foot section. Bring water. AMC non-members $1. Severe weather cancels.
This hike offers the "Best hike/views for least effort", dare we say anywhere? Lots of "bang for your buck" so to speak. We will meet at noon. We will hike approximately 2 miles with 450' elevation gain round trip to the summit of West Rattlesnake Mountain (1260') and back. We expect the hike will take 2 hours including time to enjoy the summit with its rocky outcrops and expansive views of Squam Lake with its many islands as well as the Belknap Range in the distance.
AMC Family Outings Cardigan Veteran's Day Weekend Kids Scavenger Hunt "Hike" from 1 to 3 PM. Kids of all ages can enjoy the challenge of a "Nature" Scavenger Hunt hike starting from the deck of the Cardigan Lodge. Scavenger hunt map, hunt list and supplies will be given to all who want to learn more about nature and to enjoy a challenge. Scavenger Hunt hike/walk will take us to some of the Cardigan camping and nature areas that are near the Lodge. Hunt will cover easy terrain and good trails, but good hiking shoes recommended.
Join us for a late fall hike to Mt. Jackson. At 4,052 feet, Mt. Jackson is ranked 38th on the list of New Hampshire's 48 four-thousand footers. This moderate-paced hike will begin and end at Crawford Depot on Rt 302. We will cover 5.2 miles and about 2,200 feet of elevation gain. The potential for winter conditions exists. The summit of Mt. Jackson is open but the majority of travel is below tree line. However, weather conditions may require use of traction (e.g. microspikes). May be combined with Leaders' Saturday trip to Mt.
