After Work Swim at Walden Pond

Trip dates: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 12:00 AM

Come join us for an early summer swim at Walden Pond after work at the Walden Pond State Reservation in Concord! What is more refreshing than going for a swim after work? The weather is getting hotter, and the water at Walden Pond is warming up rapidly. The Walden Pond swims will be taking place at an ongoing basis throughout the summer twice a month. As the water gets warmer the goal will be to swim across the pond and back for roughly a mile of swimming.

Walden Pond is a great place to enjoy the sun and relax on the beach, take a 2.5 mile walk around the perimeter of the Pond and visit the foundation of Thoreau's iconic miniature hut and swim across one of the deepest kettle ponds (over 100 feet) in Massachusetts originally formed by a piece of glacier that broke off from a retreating glacier and forming an unusually deep lake.

Just remember to bring your bathing suits and snacks. We may choose to go to Concord for drinks and/or dinner at Commelias pizzeria afterward.
