Carter Dome and South Carter Hike

Trip dates: Friday, April 21, 2017 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM

Join us for an early spring hike up Carter Dome and South Carter, and along the route we should get some great views of the Carter Range We'll meet at the Nineteen-Mile Brook Trailhead on NH 16 and hike to Carter Notch Hut, where, if the weather is clear, we should enjoy some of the nicest views of the Whites. From Carter Notch Hut we'll continue on to Carter Dome (4832). Weather and time permitting, we will continue on to South Carter (4430) before descending via Carter Dome and Nineteen-Mile Brook Trails. Although it will be late April, we may see winter conditions and participants should be comfortable hiking in snow and icy conditions, and should bring snowshoes and microspikes to the trailhead. There are several water crossings (which could be difficult) and there are some areas of rocky/poor footing. Trip Rating=A3A/Total mileage=11.8/Total Elevation Gain =4,100ft. Register at REGI link
