Marblehead Neck to the Misery Islands

In support of the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to minimize the risks to the most vulnerable among us, AMC will immediately begin the process of temporarily closing all lodging and foodservice facilities and suspending all in-person staff and volunteer led programming through April 30.

Trip dates: Saturday, July 12, 2014 12:00 AM

We will paddle from Marblehead Neck, crossing Salem Sound to the Misery Islands. A short hike to the top of Great Misery Island will provide an ideal lunch spot and an incredible, panoramic view of the Sound. The requirements for this trip are: (1) a sea kayak (14' or greater) with bulkheads fore and aft, decklines, spray skirt, and PFD, and (2) must be able to paddle comfortably for 13 miles, wet exit and re-enter your kayak with an assisted rescue.

Expect to spend five hours on the water with breaks. Arrival at 8:30 am with a launch by 9 to ensure parking spaces.
