This is a conditioning hike for some of the challenging New England mountains and beyond. Join us for an All Day strenuous hike. Plan is to hike 25 miles on the rugged, rocky Skyline trail with steep ups and downs. We will be rock scrambling. We will repeat the most challenging climbs. This is a conditioning hike, after all. Be sure, we will traverse the entire Blue Hills and then some. This will be a moderate-fast pace hike with minimal stops.
Bring at least 3+ liters of water and electrolytes, high energy snacks/breakfast/lunch/dinner, functional headlamp (or 2) with Extra batteries, rain gear, hiking boots/trail shoes/trail runners, hiking poles/walking sticks if you have them.
It's a good idea to bring poles for stability, the trails are slippery with pine needles, wet leaves, covering slick rocks and roots.
Be prepared to be self-sufficient, No assistance with your pack/water bottle, etc.
Time on trails will vary based on conditions and group. We may get back earlier/later. Route will be modified depending on the group and conditions. Please don't expect to be back by any specific time. Be prepared to be out all day+.
We will keep the group size small. We will be observing and practicing all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines as outlined by the AMC and CDC, including face coverings in the parking lot and whenever 6 ft of physical distancing is not possible.
Space is limited so be sure to keep up-to-date on registration emails; note the number of spots taken does not include those who have submitted this form but not completed registration.
To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
