Let's Explore a Less-Traveled Peak, Eastman Mountain, a 52 with a view
Come explore Eastman Mountain with us! This will be an 8.6 mile hike up to the less-traveled summit of Eastman Mountain at 2939 feet. Don't let this modest height fool you. This will be a challenging climb up and down, with 2600 ft. elevation gain.
Since we will be hiking the beginning of May, please don't expect pristine trail conditions.
There will be rock hoppable water crossings and some rocky ledges to practice our scrambling skills. We will likely encounter mud, slick rocks, snow, post-holes, unstable monorails, and ice. Bring microspikes. The black flies might be out, be sure to bring a head net and/or insect repellant. We will (hopefully) be rewarded by views of South Baldface, Chandler, Sable, the Moats, and Sandwich Range.
We're planning to hike at a moderate pace (approximately 1.5 mph).
We will keep the group size small. We will be observing and practicing all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines as outlined by the AMC and CDC, including face coverings in the parking lot and whenever 6 ft of physical distancing is not possible.
Space is limited so be sure to keep up-to-date on registration emails; note the number of spots taken does not include those who have submitted this form but not completed registration.
To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
