Registration limited to participants who completed the 2020 Winter Hiking Program. If you feel obligated to hike, now that you have taken the WHP, you might as well try to enjoy this hike. As originally planned, we will be hiking Mt. Tom. The only thing that has changed about this trip is the Mt. Tom we will be attempting to scale. We will be doing the highest summit in Holyoke MA. This is not a 4,000'er. You could do this three times and not climb 4,000'. This hike will cover roughly the same distance as the hike to the Mt. Tom in the Whites. There will be no ladders to climb. We do not foresee a need for an ice ax, crampons, climbing rope, helmet or supplemental oxygen. You will need probably need microspikes and snowshoes. Participants on this trip are not likely to be featured in Ty Gagne's next book, at least not for this summit attempt.
To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. If we are forced to cancel the trip on 1/30/2021, we will try again on Saturday 2/06/2021. If you can't make it on that date, please do not consider suicide. Call (877)870-HOPE if you are severely disappointed, but also send me an email so that we can give someone on the waiting list your spot.
I have led trips for every WHP for the past fifteen years.
