Mt. Wachusett (2,006 feet) is a mountain in Massachusetts that straddles the towns of Princeton and Westminster in Worcester County. It is the highest point in Massachusetts east of the Connecticut River and is named after a Native American term meaning "near the mountain" or "mountain place". This hike will provide a chance for some fun in the outdoors in winter and to give you an opportunity to gauge your physical fitness, to practice heat and energy management techniques and to ask questions of the leaders concerning equipment and hiking techniques. We will hike approximately 4 miles in 3-4 hours and will gain around 750 ft of elevation. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt-out.
