LET'S HIKE NEAR LAKE MASSABESIC / AUBURN NH

AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

Trip dates: Saturday, October 10, 2020 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM

We'll meet in the parking area at the Massabesic Audubon Center's parking area (26 Audubon Way, Auburn NH) at 12:30 pm. Then we'll hike about 4-5 miles on the forest paths near Lake Massabesic between the Massabesic Audubon Center and Battery Point. Lake Massabesic is more than 4 square miles in area and surrounded by conservation land that is open to the public for a variety of recreational uses. The lake and the surrounding watershed provide drinking water for the City of Manchester and several adjacent communities. Directions from Rte. 93N: Take exit 5. At the end of the exit ramp, take a right onto NH-28. Then take the first left onto Auburn Rd and follow for 2.4 miles. Then take a left onto NH-28 Bypass North (Londonderry Turnpike) and follow for 2.6 miles where you will take a right onto Spofford Rd. In 0.3 miles take a left onto Audubon Way, and after 0.1 miles the Massaabesic Audubon Center parking area will be on the left side of the road.
