Winter is Coming!
It is time to prepare your gear and your body for the upcoming season. The plan is to hike-up and ski-down Pat's Peak near Concord, NH. Pat's Peak has 750 vertical feet and allows skinning on their man-made snow. For those new to 'uphill' travel, there will be AT and telemark volunteers available to teach basics on attaching skins, efficient climbing techniques, as well as heat management. This is an excellent opportunity to practice hiking up, transitions, and skiing down as we will attempt several trips up and down this large hill (almost a mountain). Contact leaders for questions on rentals and/or skins.
For those already familiar with skinning, this is an opportunity to kick out cobwebs and train on snow. This will be an informal gathering and you are welcome to move at your own pace or group up with others or sit out a lap. We will meetup for lunch and afterwards for those interested in apres-ski beverages. There is no cost for this event, but registration is required, particularly for those desiring instruction and info on car pooling.
Until then, Think Snow!
