Expedition North - A Presentation on Skiing Canada's Northwest Passage - #BeOnlineWithAMC

AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

Trip dates: Thursday, July 30, 2020 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM

Join Benno Rawlinson as he tells us about Expedition North, which was an attempt to ski the North West passage, a 4 month ski trek 1200km up the coast of Baffin Island through the depths of winter. Benno, Jamie and their 2 dogs Talar & Colin skied along the coastline on the sea ice starting in the remote town of Qikiqtarjuaq in Nunavut, Canada as they man hauled their way up the coast to Pond Inlet.

Along the way they deal with an injured team mate, the extreme cold of -67F (without wind chill), white outs and polar bears. It also provided an opportunity to experience the hospitality of the North.

This will be a Zoom presentation held on Thursday July 30th at 7pm. Add your name to the sheet to sign up. You will be emailed the Zoom information the day before the event.
