Come join us on a 2 day family hike with a stay at Galehead Hut in Franconia, NH. We will stay at this lovely hut during its self-service season and bag some 4,000 footers in the White Mountains.
We will hike up to the hut that sits at the base of Galehead Mtn., where we will already have some views across the Pemigewasset Wilderness. From the hut, we will try to hike up to as many 4,000 footers as we can and want to on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning before we head down, based on time, weather, trail conditions, and group ability.
It will be self-service season at Galehead hut, so we will carry up and make our own food, as well as bring our own sleeping bags. Dinner and breakfast are included, but participants will need to bring 2 lunches and other trail snacks. We will all make and cleanup dinner and breakfast as a group. There is a full kitchen at the hut, but we will pack out our own trash, which will include unfinished food and all plastic bags/wrappers.
The hut is big and family-friendly, with co-ed bunkrooms.
This challenging, but fun trip is recommended for families with kids 12 and older.
