Rock/ice climbing Wilderness First Aid , focus on injuries that happen while Climbing

In support of the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to minimize the risks to the most vulnerable among us, AMC will immediately begin the process of temporarily closing all lodging and foodservice facilities and suspending all in-person staff and volunteer led programming through April 30.

Trip dates: Saturday, March 21, 2020 7:45 AM to Sunday, March 22, 2020 5:00 PM

This class has an extra focus on injuries that are more likely to occur in climbing and providing treatment using the equipment that a climbing party would be carrying on an extended climbing day. Bring your harness, slings, rack, rope, and whatever else you would bring for a day at the crag.
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you will have the knowledge, skills and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. that are more then an hour from emergency care..You will be Certified by Solo Stoneheart open learning opportunities.
This class will be held at the beautiful Thoreau Outing Club at Camp Thoreau.
235 Forest Ridge Road, Concord, MA
