Join us on a winter day hike to the summit of Mt Jackson (4,052'). We will hike from Crawford Notch along the Jackson branch of the Webster-Jackson Trail. This hike is open to recent Winter Hiking Program participants and other relatively fit individuals who have appropriate winter gear. The round trip is slightly greater than 5 miles with just over 2,000' of elevation gain.
Bob Knudsen leads trips year round and has taught Map & Compass for the Hiking/Backpacking Committee of the AMC Boston Chapter. He was leader/co-leader on two Adventure Travel backpacking trips to the Canadian Rockies and one to Newfoundland. Bob has hiked the White Mountains for the past 12 years, and has completed the 48 NH four thousand foot peaks including 33 in the Winter.
Elizabeth Ryan is a four-season hiking and backpacking leader with the AMC's Boston Chapter and Adventure Travel. She has completed the New Hampshire 4000 footers, hiked in the Baxter park area and explored some of the glaciated North-west peaks. International trips include hiking in the Scottish Highlands, Newfoundland, Iceland and New Zealand.
An avid outdoorsman for many years, Jim has completed the NEHH and a couple mega-hikes, bagged a few 14ers, cycled internationally, and paddles. But he really enjoys the opportunity to share these adventures with others, encouraging their awe of nature and expanding their confidence and abilities.
