Galehead in February

Trip dates: Saturday, February 8, 2020 12:00 AM

Hike to the summit of Galehead in winter. We'll start at the Beaver Brook cross country ski area and take the ski trails/herd path to Gale River road close to the road junction and the summer Gale River trailhead (a bit more than a mile). From there we'll take the Gale River trail to the Garfield Ridge trail (AT), and Garfield Ridge to Galehead hut (closed) and the Frost trail to the summit of Galehead . Total is about 12.5 miles and 2750 elevation gain. Pretzel, the hiking dog, will be joining us.
