WHP Participants ONLY: Mt. Liberty Winter Day Hike (Level 2)

Trip dates: Saturday, February 22, 2020 12:00 AM

This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to registered participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at whp19@hb.amcboston.org or follow the link below.
Mount Liberty, the 18th tallest peak in the White Mountains, is one of six mountains along Franconia Ridge. Its rocky open summit, at 4,459 ft, affords terrific panoramic views of the surrounding Pemigewasset Wilderness. We will ascend Mt. Liberty via Whitehouse, Liberty Spring, and Franconia Ridge trails. As a level 2 day hike, this trip is open to all WHP participants who have completed at least one level 1 or 2 winter hike in the preceding few months. That beginner hike can be another WHP hike or some other winter hike over terrains similar to those found in the White Mountains. The hike covers 8.0 miles, with 3,250 ft. in elevation gain. Expect steep but manageable terrain at times. Duration of the hike will vary depending on trail conditions and ability of our group.
