WHP Participants ONLY: Above Treeline Workshop 1 (Level 3)

Trip dates: Friday, February 21, 2020 12:00 AM to Sunday, February 23, 2020 12:00 AM

This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to registered participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at whp19@hb.amcboston.org or follow the link below.
The purpose of this two-day workshop is to develop and apply above treeline mountaineering skills, with a Day 2 objective of summitting Mt. Washington via the Lion Head winter route. Participants must have the stamina to accomplish a 9 mile hike with 4300' of elevation gain over steep, strenuous terrain in snowy and icy winter conditions, along with prior winter hiking experience. This should NOT be the first winter hike you have done; participants are expected to have completed at least several other below treeline winter hikes by the time of this workshop.
