Join us for a late season bike ride on the Washington Secondary rail trail in West Warwick RI. Our ride will be a total round trip of 22 miles on a paved, flat bike trail. We will start in W. Warwick and bike to Coventry. Lunch will be at the west end of the trail at the well-known Summit General Store/market where you can buy sandwiches. There will also be an opportunity for ice cream near the end (which is mandatory on a Forty Plus bike ride). We will keep a leisurely pace of 10-12 mph.
Please be ready to ride with your bike in good repair and tires pumped up. Helmets are required. Since this is a late season ride please be dressed in layers as temperatures may be cool.
This is a joint ride with our friends from the Worcester Chapter Bicycling Committee.
I began leading bike trips for the AMC in 1990 and led for ten years before taking a break. When I became active with the Forty Plus Committee I decided to start leading again. I took a refresher leadership course and Wilderness First Aid and now I am certified as a cross-country ski and bike leader. I have met many wonderful leaders and trip participants and Forty Plus has become one of my most enjoyable retirement activities.
