Join the Wednesday Wramblers on October 16 for a 5.5 mile fall foliage hike in the Wachusett Mountain State Reservation in Princeton MA. This is a moderately difficult hike with some steep, rocky sections as well as some easier stretches. We will hike at a moderate pace of 2 mph. The hike has a total elevation gain of 1,447 feet. Boots on and ready to hike at 10:00 am. We will start at the Echo Lake trail head and take a combination of trails to the summit and beyond to Balance Rock. On our way back we will pass the Princeton Municipal Wind Farm, the oldest such wind farm in MA. At the conclusion of our hike we will stop for refreshments at the Mountainside Market.
Mary loves to hike, paddle, cycle and be outdoors.
I began leading bike trips for the AMC in 1990 and led for ten years before taking a break. When I became active with the Forty Plus Committee I decided to start leading again. I took a refresher leadership course and Wilderness First Aid and now I am certified as a cross-country ski and bike leader. I have met many wonderful leaders and trip participants and Forty Plus has become one of my most enjoyable retirement activities.
