Come join Leaders Pete and Joe on a hike to the summit of Mt. Jefferson (5,716'). This will be a fast hike over some very strenuous terrain and will include an ascent through Castle Ravine, one of the hidden gems of the Whites that sees little hiker traffic. Note that there are potentially a number of difficult brook crossings and a challenging scramble up the headwall. With the return to the trailhead via the Castle trail, this hike will be a 10.2-mile loop with around 4,200' of elevation gain. Depending on group energy, a side trip to a neighboring peak may also be an option. The pace will be between 1.5 and 2MPH uphill and with no breaks, such that this trip is for exceptionally fit hikers only.Directions:
