We will raise a flag on the Lincoln summit in remembrance of those killed on 911. All 48 peaks will have a flag raised from 12.00-2.00PM on this day as part of the Flags on the 48 Event (http://www.flagsonthe48.org/). In addition to an American flag, we'll also raise a flag that flew at ground zero that has all the victims names on it, including all the first responders who died that day. We will start the hike EXTRA EARLY on Saturday (about 6:30 AM) from the Falling Waters trailhead to make sure we are on the summit by 12.00 noon and to also get parking at the trailhead lot. All participants will help in carrying the pole and the flags to and from the summit. We will hike the Falling Waters Trail to Little Haystack and then the Franconia Ridge Trail to Mt Lincoln where we'll raise our flags. We'll stay at the summit for an extended time of two hours. After 2.00 PM, we'll head back to the cars. For a small fee, those who are interested can camp on Friday and Saturday nights (and hang out and swim on Sunday) at Crazy Horse Family Campground about 25 min away from the trailhead. To book a spot at the campground, call 603-444-2204 and let them know you're with Paul for Flags on the 48. We will go out to Rek-Lis brewpub for dinner on Saturday evening.
