Join us for Part 1 of a 2-day peak-bagging hiking weekend in Maine. We'll start from Stratton Brook and hike to the Bigelows (West at 4,145 feet and Avery at 4,090), both of which offer 360 degree views and are on the Appalachian Trail. Depending on conditions and the pace of the group, we will likely also hike over The Horns (3,805 feet). The total trip will span 10-12 miles, with up to 3,750 feet of elevation gain. A separate hike on Sunday (regi.amcboston.org/event/2552) will cover Mt. Sugarloaf and Spaulding. Those interested in both hikes should sign up for both individually and plan on making their own overnight arrangements.Directions:

Stephen loves the outdoors, particularly in winter. He started hiking and backpacking as a teen and has not stopped since. He has hiked the NH 4000 footers several times in all seasons, and thru-hiked the AT in 2016. Stephen has led trips for the AMC for many years. He prefers backpacks (multi-day when his schedule allows), and hikes at a relaxed pace.
I am an experienced 3-season hiker. I've hiked the 48 4,000 footers in New Hampshire and am now working on the New England 67. I've also hiked in many other parts of the US and on 5 continents (so far)!
