Join the Wednesday Wramblers (40+) for a mellow bike ride on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail through Chelmsford and Acton. We will start in Chelmsford Center and bike towards Acton with stops at Heart Pond (to dip our toes in the water but not a swimming stop), Nara Park (flush toilets) and the "Pencil Factory" historic site on the Acton Trail Through Time. Total mileage will be between 16-18 miles depending on the group and the weather. The rail trail is fully paved, wide and flat. Helmets are required. Please arrive with your tires pumped up and bring a spare tube for your bike. Bring water, layers if necessary and sunscreen as well as a snack.
After the ride we will have lunch or refreshments at the Java Room right next to the trail.
Registration is required and full details about the starting location will be sent one or two days before the ride.
I began leading bike trips for the AMC in 1990 and led for ten years before taking a break. When I became active with the Forty Plus Committee I decided to start leading again. I took a refresher leadership course and Wilderness First Aid and now I am certified as a cross-country ski and bike leader. I have met many wonderful leaders and trip participants and Forty Plus has become one of my most enjoyable retirement activities.
