Join us for a day hike of two Maine 4,000' summits on the NE67 in the Rangeley-Stratton range. We will hike Saddleback (4,116') and The Horn (4,041') for total of 7.6 miles or 9 miles and 2,800 feet elevation gain depending on finalized approach. Plan on a 5-8 hour hike. This is a great mountain to hike along the AT as it follows the ridge, with Saddleback and The Horn being only 1.6 miles apart. On a clear day, both summits have breath-taking 360 degree views of the lakes region. We may also be able to pick blueberries at higher elevations. Participants should arrange their own accommodation as needed and should plan on starting in the morning from near the Rangeley/Madrid Maine area.
Marianne became an AMC leader while she was living in Boston in 2013-17. She's kept on leading trips since her return to Québec City, with the objective of making her AMC friends discover the hiking jewels North of the border. Born and raised in Europe, she's been hiking since the age of 8, in the Alps in France, Austria and Germany. She speaks fluent French and will gladly also act as an intercultural translator!
I have been an active member of the AMC for a handful of years. I am slowly completing the NH 48 and NE 67. No rush the mountains will still be there. I enjoy hiking, biking, x-c skiing, downhill and sailing.
