Hike the Hancocks in Late Summer

Trip dates: Saturday, September 7, 2019 12:00 AM

Join us for a late summer hike to North & South Hancock, two of the 48 NH 4,000' peaks, named after our nation's forefather with the infamous signature! We will take the Hancock Notch trail, crossing the North Fork stream several times before joining the Cedar Brook trail. We will hike through lovely woodland before joining the Hancock Loop trail. A short but steep and rocky ascent to North Hancock (4,420') is followed by a ridge walk to the South Peak (4,319') with another steep section of the Loop trail as we descend. We will then retrace our inbound route to complete the hike. Both summits are wooded but, weather permitting, we should have views over Mt Osceola and the Sandwich range from the lookouts on the North Peak. This is a moderately paced 9.8 mile trip with 2,700' cumulative elevation gain. Register at REGI link https://regi.amcboston.org/event/2539.
