Join us on a 9.2 mile south to north traverse of the Moats. This is one of the most scenic hikes at a relatively low elevation in the White Mountains and includes two peaks on the 52 With a View list. After spotting cars, we will ascend South Moat (2,749') on the Moat Mountain trail before continuing along the ridge to Middle Moat (2,805') and finally summiting North Moat (3,196,). Participants should expect to hike at a moderate pace with an elevation gain of 2,500' and some steep sections on the descent. If the weather is clear, we can expect great vista across the Saco River Valley including Mt Washington and we'll be sure to pause and take in the views!.
Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
Judith is a keen hiker and completed the NH 48 x 4,000 in 2018. She is currently working on her Winter 48 x 4,000 and the 52WAV.
