Mt. Welch-Dickey Loop Leaf Peeping

In support of the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to minimize the risks to the most vulnerable among us, AMC will immediately begin the process of temporarily closing all lodging and foodservice facilities and suspending all in-person staff and volunteer led programming through June 3.

Trip dates: Saturday, October 5, 2019 12:00 AM

The Welch-Dickey Loop is a great hike for all ages and provides hikers with views from both Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain. It is a go-to hike during the fall, taking in the gorgeous fall foliage in September and October. I know we need a leap of faith on deciding which day will be the best for leaf peeping, but let's give it a shot on October, 5th. Join us on this adventure on the ledges of Welch-Dickey Loop, bring your cameras and action!!! Lets register the amazing foliage (weather permitting). Also, If you are working on your 52 with a view, you will be able to tag 2 mountains on this hike. This is a 4.4 mile hike with approximately 1650' elevation gain. There are mildly challenging rock scrambles which may be slippery when wet so they must be ascended with caution.

Love hiking and backpacking in any capacity, any season. I've tackled long distance hiking trips including the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail. I am an organizer for the RI hiking club and am excited to be leading hikes for Boston AMC. Now focused more on sharing my love for the outdoors, I lead slower paced day and overnight trips for people beginning to crave getting outdoors.
