Join us on this family BHP (Beginner Hiking Program) hike up to Iron Mtn. and its south ledges. While the view from the parking lot is worth the drive itself, we will hike up to even better views. This mountain is on the 52 With a View list and has great views of nearby mountains, including the presidentials.
We will first hike up to main summit, a 0.9 mile climb, which is steep at times. We will then continue on 0.7 miles with a small descent to the south ledges, which affords even better views than the main summit. There is a short 0.2 mile spur near the south ledges that leads to old iron mines, which we might explore. After plenty of time at the south ledges, basking in the sun (hopefully), and absorbing in the views, we will retrace our steps up slightly to the main summit, then down back to our cars.
Participants will need to bring a trail lunch/trail snacks and appropriate clothing. Hit the green "Register Now" button to sign up for this beautiful, amazing hike.
