The AMC will be offering four hikes celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Middlesex Fells with co-leaders from the Friends of the Fells who are experts on the history and nature of the Middlesex Fells. The Fells was established in 1894 as the first state reservation and Metropolitan park thanks to the vision of AMC leaders and Charles Elliot, partner of Frederick Law Olmstead.
The Family Nature Walk will feature our fun naturalist Clay Hobart.
We will convene at the northeast corner of Medford High School at 1 pm for a 5-minute introduction to the history of the Middlesex Fells on its 125th anniversary. Hikers will depart at 1:15 pm and return between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.
Wear hiking boots or good trail shoes. Bring water, snacks and a rain jacket. For the nature hikes, an umbrella might be useful. Heavy rain cancels this event.Directions:
