The Spring Hiking Program has some bunks available for its Cardigan Lodge Weekend. This workshop will be held at the AMC's Cardigan Lodge in Alexandria, NH. The lodge is heated, has a complete commercial kitchen, separate men's and women's bathroom/shower facilities and accommodates about 70 people in bunk rooms ranging from 3 to 5 beds. Cardigan Lodge is located adjacent to Mt. Cardigan State Park. The summit of Mount Cardigan is at 3,121 feet and is flanked by subsidiary peaks, Firescrew Mt. 3,040' Gilman Mt. 2,620'. The trails and terrain are similar to those found in the White Mountains and will provide an opportunity to practice our outdoor skills. Workshop Schedule: The workshop begins Friday evening and ends Sunday afternoon. At about 9:30 P.M., Friday evening, there will be a brief orientation meeting. On Saturday morning, we will have breakfast and each leader will describe the hike they will lead, set a meeting time and place, and Participants will choose the hike they wish to do. The hikes will begin about 9 to 9:30 A.M. After dinner Saturday there will be a recap of the day's hikes and some brief entertainment. The Sunday schedule will be similar, but hikes will be of a shorter duration, since we plan to leave the lodge before 3 PM. Payment is required to secure a spot on the trip.

Casey leads trips year around for the hiking/backpacking committee of the AMC Boston Chapter. He is heavily engaged in the H/B leadership and training programs such as Spring/Fall Leadership Training as well as our educational programs in the Spring and Winter Hiking Programs. Like other hikers that hike before sun up and after sun down and do 20+ miles, Casey likes to do the same only keep it under 10 miles :) He's experienced but not a speed daemon
