This trip is ONLY available to participants of the Spring Hiking Program. Come join us to hike Mt. Sunapee. While this mountain is known for snowboarding and skiing in the winter months, it offers some great hiking and is closer to Boston than many of the other hikes that we offer in the SHP. We'll be hiking via the Summit trail. The hike is 4.8 miles and 1,300 feet of elevation gain. If the weather cooperates there are great views from the summit, which is at 2,700 feet. This is a beginner, moderately strenuous, instructional day hike intended to: (a) give you an opportunity to test and become familiar with your three season gear before you start hiking longer distances with more elevation gain; (b) hike with experienced, knowledgeable AMC leaders in a friendly setting; (c) get to know other SHP participants; and (d) practice techniques discussed in the class sessions.
Morgane is a 4-season leader and has been leading trips with the AMC since 2016. She usually does day hikes and hikes at a moderate pace. She is currently working on her NH 4000 footers. She speaks fluent French if you ever want to get some practice on the trail!
Casey leads trips year around for the hiking/backpacking committee of the AMC Boston Chapter. He is heavily engaged in the H/B leadership and training programs such as Spring/Fall Leadership Training as well as our educational programs in the Spring and Winter Hiking Programs. Like other hikers that hike before sun up and after sun down and do 20+ miles, Casey likes to do the same only keep it under 10 miles :) He's experienced but not a speed daemon
