This hike is open only to participants in this year's Spring Hiking Program. This is a beginner, moderately strenuous, instructional day hike intended to: (a) give you an opportunity to test and become familiar with your three season gear in a nearby environment before you head north to the mountains; (b) hike with experienced, knowledgeable AMC leaders in a friendly setting;(c) get to know other SHP participants; and (d) practice techniques discussed in the class sessions. We will hike for about 7 miles (including substantial climbing) about -6 hours, including time for lunch and gear discussion. The actual pace will depend upon the group. This hike has a wide variety of terrain, including steep ascents, steep descents and exposed hilltops (with great views of the Boston skyline).
Morgane is a 4-season leader and has been leading trips with the AMC since 2016. She usually does day hikes and hikes at a moderate pace. She is currently working on her NH 4000 footers. She speaks fluent French if you ever want to get some practice on the trail!
Casey leads trips year around for the hiking/backpacking committee of the AMC Boston Chapter. He is heavily engaged in the H/B leadership and training programs such as Spring/Fall Leadership Training as well as our educational programs in the Spring and Winter Hiking Programs. Like other hikers that hike before sun up and after sun down and do 20+ miles, Casey likes to do the same only keep it under 10 miles :) He's experienced but not a speed daemon
