This trip is ONLY available to participants of the Spring Hiking Program. It is an opportunity for participants to get outside with experienced AMC leaders and enjoy a minimally demanding hike. So get out your backpack for a Spring "shake-down" hike in beautiful Wachusett Meadow in Princeton, Mass. The purpose of this hike is to get you to scrape up some gear and get you out on the trails, even if we have to bend some rules by allowing the banned Killer Cotton and sneakers. There's nothing a hot shower and a washing machine can't fix. Grab your book bag, lunch, a large bottle of water, along with a raincoat and whatever else you think you should take on a hike and let's go. This is a relatively easy hike in a Mass Audubon sanctuary, covering just a few of the 12 miles of trails. Some short sections are steep, but the summit of Brown Hill (1,312') affords a spectacular panorama in all directions, including views of Mts. Wachusett and Monadnock.
Morgane is a 4-season leader and has been leading trips with the AMC since 2016. She usually does day hikes and hikes at a moderate pace. She is currently working on her NH 4000 footers. She speaks fluent French if you ever want to get some practice on the trail!
Casey leads trips year around for the hiking/backpacking committee of the AMC Boston Chapter. He is heavily engaged in the H/B leadership and training programs such as Spring/Fall Leadership Training as well as our educational programs in the Spring and Winter Hiking Programs. Like other hikers that hike before sun up and after sun down and do 20+ miles, Casey likes to do the same only keep it under 10 miles :) He's experienced but not a speed daemon
