Have you ever wanted to take your family for a hike? Not sure where to go, what to bring, or how to convince your kids it will be fun? Then join us for the 2nd Annual Beginner Hiking Program (BHP) for Families (you do not need to be an AMC member)! BHP registrants will receive periodic emails with information on appropriate clothing and equipment, trail etiquette, basic trail safety, and tricks and games to use on the trail. After you register, choose from the list of hikes especially for beginners and sign up early, as hikes will fill quickly. Hikes will be added on a continuing basis throughout the month of March, so check back for updates!
On the trails, leaders will relay their experiences preparing for and participating in safe hiking adventures and answer your questions about kids on the trail. The hike locations will mainly be around Metro Boston / Eastern MA with some trips in NH and the White Mountains. Hikes will range from short, flat walks of <2 hours to all day, climbs over 5 miles, and be categorized according to length and difficulty, so that families can best determine which hikes to participate in. This program is appropriate for all ages, although the more advanced hikes may not be appropriate for the youngest children.
Come have fun in the woods with other families!
