We will welcome spring with two full-day trips in the Sandwich Range Wilderness and the valley to the south. We will choose from a variety of tours using old roads, hiking trails, multi-use trails, and groomed ski trails. Expect moderate pace with several short snack/water stops -- sit-down lunch is unlikely unless temps are super balmy. Limited to six (6) experienced skiers -- comfortable skiing on ungroomed trails and dealing with obstacles like streams and fallen logs, undaunted by the occasional steep hill or possible bushwack, and in good shape. Difficulty will depend as much on snow conditions as terrain: Advanced Intermediate.
Our base will be the leader's house at the foot of Mount Whiteface, where everyone will help with meals.
We are using a Google form for registration and to screen for maximum enjoyment. We'll follow up by phone/email as needed.
Ben has lead hiking, biking and xc ski ski trips with the Boston chapter. He enjoys skiing at xc centers and in the backcountry.
Cindy is a lifelong skier who transitioned from downhill to cross-country as a teenager. She now prefers off-track skiing using techniques learned on many family adventures led by her dad. She also enjoys the occasional ski marathon--Canada 2020 is up next. Favorite spots include the Stony Brook Reservation, Whiteface Intervale, NH, and the High Peaks/Lake Placid. Besides many years as a leader with the Boston Ski Committee, she has regularly taught at both the novice and back-country workshops.
