A Winter traverse of the Moat Mountains (South, Middle, and North)., netting two peaks on the 52-with-a-view list and, appropriately, some nice outlooks along the way. After spotting cars at our exit, we'll start up Moat Mountain (South), and proceed at moderate 1.5 mph to 2.0 mph average pace up to South Moat, over to Middle Moat, then take Moat Mtn trail over North Moat and down past Diana's Bath to the parking lot. We might be in snowshoes, crampons, or micro-spikes, who knows! Distance 9.5mi, climb 3500', time approximately 7hr including some short breaks.Directions:
Detailed hike and driving info provided upon Registration approval. The hike is free but there is a parking fee of $5.00 (or pass) required to park. Vehicle owner responsible for their own vehicle's required fee(s) paid directly to the lot.
Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
