Join us for a winter day hike with the goal to stand on the summits of North (4,293') and South (4,358') Kinsman mountains. Following the eastern approach past Lonesome Lake Hut and then the Fishin' Jimmy and Kinsman Ridge trails, we'll hike 10 miles out and back with 3,550 feet of elevation gain. Weather permitting, we'll enjoy beautiful views along the way.
This trail is rough and exposed in places, and we can anticipate full winter conditions, so previous winter mountaineering experience is required to participate. Expect an early start and steady pace with brief breaks. If the weather is not suitable for this hike, the leaders may select an alternative hike in the area.
Eliot Levine leads trips for the Berkshire and Boston chapters. He has climbed the NH 4000-footers and most of them a second time in winter, as well as almost 100 peaks in the Northeast 111.
