Spy Pond Trails Day is an all-volunteer work event sponsored by the Town of Arlington, with ample support provided by the AMC Boston Chapter Trail Committee volunteer crews and the AMC Professional Trail Crew since the first annual event in 2005. This year the AMC Boston Chapter Conservation Committee will be joining the Spy Pond Trails Day activities and in conjunction with other local groups we will help remove invasive plants and carefully maintain vistas from the access path onto the pond, for aesthetic enjoyment and to promote public safety. Doughnuts, snacks and tools will be provided. This year we will focus on bittersweet, a particularly aggressive invasive, and we could use all the help we can get with keeping it in check. We have two root pullers (which the kids love to use!), as well as loppers and shears, and we encourage anyone else who wants to help to bring their own tools to add to the cause. Bring a brown-bag a lunch for after the work session, and enjoy a relaxing lunch and conversation on the pond. Learn about #SaveLWCF.
- "This event is a great opportunity to contribute to the community and see the year-to-year improvement in habitat. Invasives choke out plants that are beneficial to birds, bees, and butterflies."
The park is on the Minuteman Bike Trail.
