Meetings & Volunteer Opportunities

AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

If you are interested in serving on the Local Walks & Hikes Committee, contact Judith Watson at  We meet quarterly and could use help with the website, record keeping, and leader recruitment, retention and recognition.  
New leaders are always welcome.  If you are interested in leading walks and hikes, contact Judith Watson at
Leader Qualifications: 
* Complete AMC Boston Chapter Leadership training, either the day-long option or more extensive version.
* Be assigned a Local Walks & Hikes mentor, who has leadership status, assist leading two trips with the mentor, and receive a recommendation from the mentor, OR
obtain a recommendation from a Local Walks & Hikes Committee member, a leader with one of the other Boston Chapter Committees, or a known leader/Committee member from another Chapter. 
* Submit release and trip reports in a timely manner, not longer than one week after a trip.
* Adhere to leadership guidelines.
