AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

The INTRO Committee provides members and friends of the Boston Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club with opportunities to participate in a variety of outdoor activities that include hiking, bicycling, skiing, paddling, camping, trail maintenance, and conservation projects, at the beginnner (INTROductory), advanced beginner, and intermediate levels. The INTRO Committee does not offer activities that require advanced skill levels.

Our trips are designed for enjoyment and appreciation of the outdoors, for friendly social engagement, and to advance your skill level, if desired. We also offer explorations of the natural world such as: local walks, animal tracking, natural history museums, nature writing, and photography and we try to make equipment rentals available on beginner trips.

Many of our activities are local day trips, but we also offer affordable weekends away from the Boston area throughout New England.
