Hemlock Gorge Reservation, Newton/Needham

Rescheduled Earth Day Walk, which was canceled because of the weather. Meet in the parking lot of 381 Elliot Street, Newton. Please arrive by 9:15am for a prompt 9:30am start. This year, in addition to partnering with the Boston Chapter Conservation Committee, the Southeastern Massachusetts Chapter will be leading along with us. Geologist, Les Tyrala will be our special guest speaker. Join us as we explore the geology and history of the Hemlock Gorge Reservation on a slow-paced, interpretive two-mile walk. No dogs. Directions from Route 128 (also known as Interstate 95): Take exit number 19 B, Highland Avenue, towards Newton. Proceed to the 2nd traffic light and turn left onto Oak Street. Proceed to 1st traffic light and turn left onto Chestnut Street. Proceed to 1st traffic light and turn left onto Elliot Street. The parking lot for 381 Elliot Street is on your right.

Neponset River Greenway/Mattapan Sq/Milton Hill

7.5-mile fast-paced walk along Neponset River to Mattapan Square on newly opened stretch of Neponset Greenway then to Hutchinson Field in Milton 9:30am-2:00pm. Must bring lunch, water and appropriate footwear. Meet at Hallet Street entrance to Pope John Paul II Park. From Route 93N, take exit 11 (11B from Route 93S) to Granite Avenue, north over Neponset River, immediate right on Hilltop Street, right under bridge into parking lot. E-mail if severe weather. Late Spring Duxbury Beach Reservation Walk

Join the 40 Plus Wramblers on a four-hour eight-mile walk along one of the South Shore's coastal gems. Duxbury Beach is a stunningly beautiful barrier beach that ends in two sand spits called The Gurnet (with a lighthouse) and Saquish (interestingly enough, both in Plymouth). If we have time we may explore The Gurnet. Optional post trip visit to the French Memories bakery in Duxbury's Snug Harbor.

Family Walk to Tippling Rock, Sudbury, MA

Join Boston Family & Outdoors.Rx Walk to Tippling Rock in Sudbury, MA with great views of Boston, the Blue Hills, Mt. Wachusett and the Western Suburbs. We will walk through forest, past ponds.

This gentle walk is open for families of all ages. We will walk a total of 2 miles. No registration is required. The hike is free. Members and non-members welcome.

Please bring a water bottle and a hat. Bring sun screen and insect repellent. Come wearing footwear good for a moderate up and down walk, either sneakers or hiking boots. The hike will cancel for rain.

Moderate pace 5 mile walk, across grassy meadows and through hemlock forest, to scenic Walden Pond. Visit a cove, once inhabited by Henry Thoreau. Enjoy sit-down break, on the shore of Walden. Walk followed by dinner/social hour at China Ruby Restaurant, in nearby Maynard, at around 2:00 PM. Meet 11:00 AM, at Lincoln Train Station commuter parking lot. Family Walk at Prospect Hill Park, Waltham, MA

We will walk from the South end of Prospect Park along the ridge to the peak in the park. We'll have great views of downtown Boston and Waltham and enjoy this beautiful wooded area.

This hike is open to all families, is free, and is sponsored by AMC Boston Family Outings and OutdoorsRx. The walk is show and go. No registration is required. Members and non-members welcome. Please check this website the night prior to be sure the walk is still on, weather dependent.
