AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.
Mongolia sounds exotic, but it's easier and less expensive to do-it-yourself than you may think. On her first-ever sojourn abroad, Sage Cohen spent three months traveling Mongolia with a bicycle. She spent the subsequent two summers there, traveling by four hooves and a thumb. This slideshow (yes, real Kodak slides!) opens a view on the landscape, people and culture of this Central Asian land, including a composite of her many weeks exploring the country by horse. Sage has become an intrepid traveler since her 40th birthday.

Japan is a unique combination high technology, ancient traditions, elegant temples, meticulous gardens, and varied landscapes forming an exciting place to travel and experience the outdoors. Join David Loutzenheiser, one of the leaders and organizers of the first AMC Major Excursions trip to Japan on a discovery of this fascinating country. Traveling entirely on foot and using public transportation throughout the country, explore the world's most extensive high speed rail system, and buses that climb narrow mountain roads.
The clocks have been changed, there's a chill in the air and ski resorts are starting to open. It's officially the most wonderful time of the year in New England! Join us for a walk in the city, then gather at AMC's Cabot Auditorium on Beacon Hill for a brief meeting, followed by a potluck dinner. Then, we'll reminisce about past trips, and discuss some trip options for 2011. Walk begins at 2:00pm. Boston HQ at Joy Street will be open at 4:00pm for socializing and an equipment swap. Meeting at 4:30pm, and potluck dinner at 5:30pm.

Bring your skis and some food to share for an evening with fellow skiers. We'll start with dinner at 7:00pm, then work on skis in shifts. There will be several workstations with files, irons, and wax. There will also be help and guidance for novices. Come and share stories of past seasons and plans for the coming winter.

Join the Young Members Google Group: Spontaneous Outings and Socials (SOS). SOS includes local hikes, walks, nature trips, socials, talks, workshops, etc., within the Boston area. The goal is to bring like-minded people together and encourage exploration, enjoyment, and appreciation of local open spaces and environmental issues. Trips and socials will be emailed 3-5 days in advance and will include meeting location, required equipment, skill level, and duration.
