Join us for a Winter weekend at Sub Sig Cabin in Hart's location in Crawford Notch down the road from AMC Highland Center. This is a half century old hidden jewel … in fact it is called Hart's location and the cabin ( Sub Sig) is rustic yet clean and functional with an outhouse ( yeah) and hauled in water. We will plan a hike/ cross country skiing choice both Saturday and Sunday as well as group breakfasts and a supper prepared by us all on Saturday evening. Trip is recommended for families with kids ages 7+. Group size is limited to 15 lucky souls.

Join us for advanced beginner to intermediate winter day hikes in the Pinkham Notch area of New Hampshire. Stay at a rustic cabin and share the camaraderie and cooking of Saturday/Sunday breakfasts, Saturday happy hour, and dinner (BYOB in moderation). We will choose one or two hikes each day. The difficulty of the hikes will depend on conditions and group interest. However, you should plan on a full day of hiking with significant elevation gain.
This trip goes off the beaten track! Snowshoe through a beautiful winter landscape breaking our own trail and possibly visiting two peaks in the Pemigewasset Range on the way.
Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
[cancelled - snow] Moderate pace 4-mi. hike/snowshoe around pond, 10:00am-12:15pm. Bring snack & water. From Rte. 93/128 exit 2A, take Rte. 138 S 0.7 mi. to Ponkapoag Golf Course lot on L. No dogs; non-AMC members $1. If no snow, bring traction device for boots. Storm cancels.
This shorter hike/snowshoe option at Pawtuckaway State Park is intended for somewhat shorter younger legs (eg. younger kids and their families). The Pawtuckaway Mountains are a classic example of an eroded volcanic crater. This hike will take the Round Pond trail, then the Boulder Trail, and looping around Round Pond and back to the parking lot via the Round Pond trail. Loop distance about 3 miles with 200 ft. elevation gain. Conditions likely frozen ground, cold temperatures, possible snow and ice. Snowshoes and light traction (micro-spikes - we have some to lend) required.
