On the edge of Lake Ossipee, Calumet offers hiking, snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating, x-c skiing at our doorstep, and optional DH skiing nearby. Adults relax while kids build snowmen and snow angels and play outdoor basketball and broom ball at the covered pavilion. This weekend includes accommodations, all meals, activities, & down time for kids & adults. Saturday evening, there is a campfire w/singing & stories on the beach.
Skiing - Cross-Country (Nordic)
Family President's Day Weekend at AMC's Noble View Outdoor Center in the Pioneer Valley, about 1-1/2 hours west of Boston. Activities include hiking, snow shoeing, x-c skiing, and family 'snow fun' like sledding or making snow people! The accommodations are rustic, but comfortable and cozy, heated by wood stoves. The twin beds have mattresses, but we bring pillows, sheets, and blankets or sleeping bags. We need to be flexible regarding sleeping arrangements which may be co-ed to keep families together and some kids will be in sleeping bags on the floor.
Join us as we celebrate the new year with X-C skiing at moderate levels and a relaxed pace. Snow shoeing is also available from novice to experienced. AMC Boston Family Outings is an active group of familes, parents, and grandparents who like to get outdoors with their kids. Come learn about our activities including hiking, camping, swimming, canoeing, fishing, and biking in summer, and snowshoeing, skiing, skating, and sledding in colder months.
Up to 85K of groomed XC ski trails. Optional snowshoeing, ice-skating, and apres-ski sauna, all in good company of intermediate skiers. Approximately $235.00 (depending on group size, there is usually a refund) includes three days of trail passes, two nights lodging, linens, and six sumptuous, healthy meals (Friday/Saturday dinner, Saturday/Sunday breakfast and lunch, and a potluck social hour on Saturday. Join the young members of AMC for a fun evening of XC skiing on the lantern lit trails of Great brook farm. I am very excited that we are finally getting enough snow to ski locally during the week. Great brook is gorgeous at night! We may have a circular dessert to celebrate pi day and St. Patrick's day!
Join the 40 Plus Wednesday Wramblers for a day of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at the Windblown Ski Touring Center in southern New Hampshire. Windblown has 40 kilometers of trails suitable for skiing and snowshoeing and offers a variety of landscapes including hills, valleys, ponds and hilltops. The touring center has a lovely fireplace and a café for lunch. This family run business does not take credit or debit cards. The cost of a trail pass is $16 (18-64 years old) or $14 (65+). I began leading bike trips for the AMC in 1990 and led for ten years before taking a break. When I became active with the Forty Plus Committee I decided to start leading again. I took a refresher leadership course and Wilderness First Aid and now I am certified as a cross-country ski and bike leader. I have met many wonderful leaders and trip participants and Forty Plus has become one of my most enjoyable retirement activities.
