Come to our Wednesday evening (5:30 pm - dark, June 6 - Aug 29) pond socials! These are informal get-togethers at a pond in Concord (near Walden Pond) to practice paddling skills, roll whitewater kayaks and play around.
Everyone is welcome to join us with their own boat! We have WW kayak rentals for $10. You must be able to transport the kayak from the boathouse to the pond and back (approx. 5 miles).

Sea Kayak Spring Tune-Up

Or, are you an intermediate paddler interested in co-leading sea kayaking trips and getting on a path to full leadership? Then join the Boston Chapter Paddlers Committee for a training session on Sunday, June 3 at Lake Cochituate in Framingham. Basic skills will be covered such as strokes, rescues, safety, and leadership.

Paddle Westport River (Lev 1+)

Westport river is a great warm up to the paddling season. Quiet, scenic, and warm(er) water. We will paddle 8-12 miles in the East branch. Rental boats available near launch.
Expect to see lots of ospreys, ducks, and other birds. After paddling, we regroup at restaurant next to take-out for drinks on the deck with optional dinner.

Intro to Sea Kayaking (Level one, rentals available)

This is an introduction to ocean kayaking with instruction in basic strokes. After a paddle along the coast with a stop for lunch we will return to the put-in area to learn group rescue techniques.

This will take place in Rockport, MA with rental boats available. The location can be reached by commuter rail but you must let us know if you will need a ride from the train station. We will let you know which train others will be arriving on to have as few shuttles as possible.

Intro to Sea Kayaking (boats available)

Introduction to sea kayaking will be taught on a lake in Amesbury, MA. Sea kayaks, paddles and pfds will be provided (if you own your own, it must be 14+ feet and decked over with sealed floatation compartments - contact the leader)

Learn how to adjust the fit of a sea kayak and learn the basic strokes. After a paddle up a nearby river for lunch we will return to the put-in area to learn group rescue techniques.

Fee: $60 AMC members ($70 non-members 0) for equipment and instruction.

Boston Harbor Sea Kayak Trip

Boston Harbor intermediate sea kayak trip. Depending on conditions and the group we will paddle to Georges Island for lunch and sight-seeing. This is the way to see and enjoy Boston Harbor. Paddlers must have a sea kayak 14 feet or longer with front and rear bulkheads, spray skirt, and pfd. Experience paddling in open water with rescues skills required. Expect to paddle with the group at a 3 knot pace.
