Paddling - Sea Kayaking
Current and prospective AMC Sea Kayak leaders should attend our annual day long session to polish their skills and hone their training methods.The class will be run by a number of ACA-trained Sea Kayak instructors.We will cover a full range of trip-leading topics, from planning andscreening through strokes and rescue to safety, and the administrative details of running trips. Novice leaders will acquire practical knowledge on the water and grizzled veterans will share wisdom of seasons past.

We will refine your basic strokes by introducing boat leaning and bracing; present more rescue scenarios and introduce towing.

We will be kayak camping on Lovell Island as we improve our stroke and rescue skills in the open-water environment of the harbor. If you are ready to take your kayaking skills and experience to the next level, join us for this adventurous weekend. Our goal will be to make you a safer kayaker. Food and camping fee additional (~ $65)
Scenic tidal basin off the Piscataqua river near Portsmouth. We'll launch at the mouth of this basin and paddle with the incoming tide. After lunch and some exploring we'll return the same way. Expect about 15 miles RT. This is protected water, but there may be strong tidal currents near the mouth. L2 personal seakayaks, 14 feet or longer, with bulkheads, PFDs, skirts and all personal safety gear, lunch and at least 2 liters of water.
Level 2 sea kayak trip. Launch in Dorchester, paddle to Spectacle Island or others as weather dictates. Approximate distance 10 miles.
Paddling from Cohasset Harbor to Minot Light. Significant open water exposure, up to 15 miles RT. Experienced sea kayakers only.
