Launch from South Freeport. Camp two nights on Little Chebeague Island. Visit Ft Gorges, Peaks Island, Crow Island. This is a level 2+ trip. Participants must be comfortable in moderate conditions (winds <15 knots, waves <2', current <2 knots). We will average 10 miles per day with options for additional paddling each day. We will generally be within 1 mile of land (mainland or an island) and open water crossings will not exceed 2 miles. Due to the dynamic nature of the Marine environment participants must be prepared to paddle in a less passive sea state.

Are you a sea kayaker with basic paddling skills and experience as a participant on several guided / led trips? Are you ready to "take the next step"? If so, this full day clinic on the ocean is for you. Skills you will learn and practice include use of the Small Craft Navigation Aid with a navigation chart, and techniques for cohesive group paddling (proximity, signals, formations, and when to use them). The clinic will be conducted utilizing Hingham Bay and Hull Bay, and will include approximately 10 nautical miles of paddling.
Visit Hadley's Harbor and Weepecket island from Woods Hole. The ~12 mile trip will leave from Trunk River beach, paddle past Nobska lighthouse to Lackey's bay, then meander through Hadley's Harbor in time for lunch on Weepecket island. In the afternoon, we'll paddle downcurrent through Woods Hole passage to Nobska point and Trunk River. This trip will encounter strong tidal currents and possibly 15-20 knot tailwinds in the afternoon. We will cross Woods Hole passage twice. Paddlers should be experienced and have recently paddled on other AMC level 2 Sea kayaking trips.

Participants must be comfortable in moderate conditions (winds <15 knots, waves <2', current <2 knots). We will average 10 miles per day with options for additional paddling each day. We will generally be within 1 mile of land (mainland or an island) and open water crossings will not exceed 2 miles.
Paddle this beautiful, under-developed tidal river on the South Shore. We launch at Head of Westport (rentals available @ launch) and paddle 12 miles down to Horseneck beach. This tidal river is fairly shallow, so not a lot of motor boats, but will see lots of ospreys, ducks, and other birds. We paddle to mouth and take a break on Horseneck beach, then back to town for take out, then regroup for drinks at nearby restaurant on deck overlooking the river. This is a level 1.5 trip. You must be able to paddle 12 miles (tide assisted) in 4-5 hours, with breaks of course.
Current and prospective AMC Sea Kayak leaders should attend our annual day long session to polish their skills and hone their training methods. The class is run by a number of ACA-trained Sea Kayak instructors. We will cover a full range of trip-leading topics, from planning and screening through strokes and rescue to safety, and the administrative details of running trips. Novice leaders will acquire practical knowledge on the water and grizzled veterans will share wisdom of seasons past.
Explore the pointed fir Islands off Stonington and Deer Isle, Maine. Protected by over 65 islands between the southern tip of Deep Isle and Isle au Haute, part of Arcadia Nat'l Park. We will provide two trips each day w/ island camping on the weekend. Level 2 sea kayak skills and equipment required (email registrar) with advanced level trips for higher level paddlers. Arrive Tuesday for base camp set up. Wed and Fri breakfast included. Paddle destination breakfast in Stonington Thur with Quarry Museum tour. Kayak camping on Remote Island Sat. 5 night camping fee.
Paddle from Cambridge to the Barking Crab for lunch and back. Approximately 12 miles rt. Level 2 for distance and pace. Intermediate experience required. Sea Kayaks with bow and stern flotation required.
Sea kayaking in Boston Harbor from City Point to the Outer Islands. 15-20 miles. Level 3 paddling skills required.
Sea-kayaking to Monhegan Island from Port Clyde. Approximately 20 miles. We will paddle along an island chain in Muscungus Bay before a long open water crossing to the island, weather permitting. Lunch and leisure on the island before returning via ferry. Level 3 sea-kayaking skills required.
