Paddling - Sea Kayaking

Adventures along the MITA trail

Saturday, August 30, 2014 12:00 AM to Monday, September 1, 2014 12:00 AM

Labor day weekend of kayaking and camping in upper Casco bay in Maine. Upper Casco is much quieter than the area around Portland and offers mostly protected water for paddling. This will be a level 2 trip: 15 miles or less per day with some areas exposed to open seas, but mostly protected water. Our specific route will depend upon conditions. Dana and Jeff can accommodate some level 2 paddlers that are new to camping from kayak - please contact us for more info. Just because we're camping doesn't mean we eat granola bars for dinner!

The requirements for this trip are: (1) a sea kayak (14' or greater) with bulkheads fore and aft, deck lines, spray skirt, and PFD, and (2) must be able to paddle comfortably for 13 miles, wet exit and re-enter your kayak with an assisted rescue.
