AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.
September is a wonderful season in New England: plants are weighed down with fruits; leaves are ablaze with colors; days are warm and nights are cool. Come celebrate the season with a nature walk in Arlington's Great Meadows. We'll explore several different habitats during our journey: a pond, the pond edge, an upland forest, a field edge and a wet meadow. We will focus on plant ID as well as fun and interesting natural history about the plants we see, and learn why Arlington's Great Meadows is in Lexington.

At rotary, go right onto South Border Rd./Winchester and continue a couple of hundred yards to Bellevue Pond Parking Lot on right (opposite #68 South Border Rd, Medford). Rte 2 to Exit 42 (Rte 27/Main St, Acton). Follow Rte 27 north for about 1 mile through Acton Center and turn left on Nagog Hill Rd. Go 1.1 miles. Parking lot on left just past small meadow. Kids Learn to Fish class. Come join us 8 am to 12 pm as we teach kids ages 6 and up to learn the basics about bait fishing. We cover topics such as reading water, bait, lures, bobbers. We meet at Rocky Woods in Medfield, MA by 8am. We have access to a number of ponds and you don't need a fishing license.
Since we have a limited number of rods, we will restrict this to 10 kids plus parent(s). Remember to bring water, snacks and/or lunch.
Drop in the new AMC Headquarters at Charlestown City Square for a FIX A FLAT demo. We will show you how to fix a flat on your bicycle. We will demo fixing a bike tire flat using the tools and tips needed to be successful.

The Whipple Hill Conservation Area is located in the southeast corner of Lexington, bordering Winchester and Arlington. It has 5.7 miles of hiking trails within 120 acres of varied landscape and Whipple Hill, at 374 feet, is the highest point in Lexington. We will begin the hike at Wright-Locke Farm, a 380-year community farm in Winchester that has chickens, goats, and sheep and sells organic produce. We will meet at 11 AM and spend some time with the animals and then venture into Whipple Hill for a 2-3 mile hike over varied terrain.
Stacia Biel leads trips for the Family Outings and Adventure Travel Committees. She lives in Winchester with her family and chocolate lab Taza. Stacia hikes with dogs every morning in Whipple Hill and knows the trails well.

This Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning.
